One of the Ning communities I started for my school alumni has been steadily gaining membership. It’s exciting to watch it grow. You can visit http://missioneagles.ning.com to see for yourself. At this time it has over 30 members. As the word gets out, I expect that it will grow larger. I try to tell people I recognize from school about it every chance I get.
There are some people saying that the future of social networking and the web in general is for regional or local purposes. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but an alumni site seems ideal for a social network.
