All you new iPhone users may be glad to learn that one of the better GTD-style websites, Vitalist, has added a mobile version just for you. Vitalist made the announcement through their blog at The Net Effect. You can access Vitalist for iPhone at http://iphone.vitalist.com.
Vitalist already offered a mobile version of their service at http://vitalist.mobi, which ties into your regular web account. The mobile version is more streamlined and less AJAXy than the web version to improve load times on mobile devices. After taking a look at the iPhone version of Vitalist on a computer browser, the main difference between the web or mobile versions and the iPhone version is that the interface is more multi-step. It sounds more complicated, but it actually makes it easier to use Vitalist with a touch screen. You can essentially drill down to what you want to do, leaving all the entry and edit options for the last screen. It’s so natural, in fact, that I prefer using the iPhone version of Vitalist on my desktop. I tried Vitalist for iPhone on my T-Mobile Dash, but all I get is the logo and a link to log out (was that a hint?). Since I don’t have an iPhone, I don’t know how fast the Vitalist pages will load on a iPhone through the AT&T network. When I tried it on my mobile, Vitalist for iPhone loaded much slower than Vitalist for Mobile, which probably means that the file sizes are bigger.
So, I’m bummed I can’t use the iPhone version of Vitalist on my mobile. On the plus side, it’s awesome on the desktop as it offers a cleaner interface than the regular site. I will probably add Vitalist for iPhone as a widget on my desktop. I’m sure Vitalist for iPhone is even better on the iPhone. Even if entering data on the iPhone is a pain, there is always the combination of Vitalist and Jott to save some of that headache.
