My wife and I had a disappointing first experience with Netflix once. This was years ago when it was just getting off the ground. In retrospect, it was probably a bad idea to be one of their early adopters. Most new services have issues at the beginning. Our biggest problem with Netflix was that I think they gave you 2 weeks to try the service out. If you were not satisfied, you could cancel and not pay anything. We tried it, figuring that it would take maybe a week to get the DVD. We did not get our first movie until way past the second week. We gave them another shot and the next movie took a long time to arrive as well. Given the speed of their deliveries, we were not seeing any value from the service. Those $20 we were sending them could get us four movies here in far less time.
This time around, we subscribed to the $10 plan as we expect that we might watch more movies than what the $5 plan allows. We have kids. I have to say that we were impressed. The first DVD arrived within just a few days. We joined on the evening of July 5 and received the first DVD on July 9. There was a weekend in there, so it might have arrived a day earlier. In addition, the first day did not count as the post office was already closed. So, it took maybe two or three days for us to receive the first movie, effectively. That is awesome turnaround.
We mailed back our first movie today. So, we might receive the next movie in our queue by this weekend. This is great timing. It might be worthwhile to bump up our subscription to the next level so that we can have the movies on a rotation. This way our return and the next delivery will cross each other in the mail. I think this can be considered a mended relationship.

Glad netflix is working for you this time. I’m still on the one movie at a time plan, but may upgrade later. I’ve gotten two bum discs in the 2 years I’ve had it. One was scratched and wouldn’t play the other was literally cracked. They are good at quickly sending a replacement however. You might want to add the Netflix Application on Facebook so people can see your queue.
Thanks, Nathan. I’ll look for the Facebook application and add it.
