You Comment, I Follow

U Comment, I Follow

I have installed No Follow Case by Case to disable the nofollow on my comments. This, however, doesn’t leave carte blanche for spamments. I can still turn off the nofollow on a comment or just delete the comment entirely.

You can get the logo in different colors at RandClay.com.

I have decided to give link love for two reasons. First, I want to share my link love with my friends (i.e. those who comment). Second, when you comment, it seems to me that you are providing some content for my blog and a back link is the best way to repay your contribution.

Who will benefit from this?

1. My friends.
2. Me (from more comments).
3. Not spammenters. I can still delete comments.

  1. I have to believe that this has been one of the best plugins created because of the impact it has created in helping a lot more people become social because of it. What benefits have you seen?

  2. I’d have to say that perhaps the best benefit I have experienced is an increase in comments from readers. Interaction is ultimately my goal. Beyond that, I couldn’t say what other benefits this plugin brings.

  3. I’ve also joined the ifollow movement. It will be interesting to see what the results will be.

  4. Surprisingly, there hasn’t been a deluge of spamments. Things have been pretty tame. Good luck, I hope it works for you.

  5. Hi,

Everybody loves links. Even the google bot, but it does not like non- genuine links.

For instance, some time ago, google had a controversy over following paid links.

Now for a spider or a crawler to identify the paid links from non-paid is almost impossible.

But in most CMS , including wordpress and blogspot, it is very easy to identify comments from content. The algorithm to detect comments as links is quite easy.

do - follow may go void, if google thinks so. So do you think , it is worth all these?

But still, it does good in the short term..

  6. Well, if Google does decide not to follow comment links, then there is no harm done. The links would simply stop working. You’re right. In the short term, it probably is worthwhile.

  7. I don’t think that ‘nofollow’ has prevented spamming. It’s still rampant.

I have the ‘nofollow’ removed from my blogs for some time now and I don’t think there has been any difference in spam.
