One of My Clipmarks Featured on Clipiversity

I was checking my email a while ago and came upon a notice from Eric Skiff that one of my Clipmarks was featured in the Thursday edition of Clipiversity. This is pretty cool. I’m a new user and certainly wasn’t expecting one of my clips to get attention.

I first heard of Clipmarks back during SXSW at BarCamp. We had a presentation about the site; but I wasn’t sold. I really wasn’t into bookmarking sites. I only recently started using these kind of sites because they help me keep track of sites I like AND I’ve started using some to get traffic to this blog.

The way that Clipmarks is different from the other sites is that you can clip just the useful information. There are some really long posts out there that have a few good points. Rather than save the URL only, Clipmarks lets you select the information you want to keep and save it. This works for me on many levels.

  • I don’t have to read the entire post again to find the points I want to remember.
  • Once the information is clipped, I can leave it as a bookmark or blog it.
  • You get interaction with other clippers, this can generate ideas for a post

If I had to narrow down what Clipmarks does, now that I’m using the site, it is information management. It allows you to condense a post to its key points and to read summarized posts from other clippers. I don’t think Clipmarks aims to be a bookmarking site; they make it easy to save your stuff to other social bookmarking sites. This is all about getting down to the nitty-gritty of a post. For that, I like the service.
