Computer Job

I am working on a computer job right now. Geez, I hate these spyware and virus cleanups. They are such a pain because they take so long. Especially on computers that have all kinds of stuff installed like games, productivity packs, and so on. So far, over 1 million files scanned and 14 viruses found. I may end up having to reinstall windows, which means I will lose another couple hours out of my life waiting for that.

I have stated over and over again, do NOT use Limewire. They are the devil. Sure you get free downloads. They just happen to include spyware and viruses. The best way to prevent problems is to not download the crap in the first place.

They have another computer that does not access the web. It can see another computer on the same network segment. The other computer can access the web. The one in question cannot find the web. Haven't a clue what's wrong with it.

Job Done

I finished installing the track lights at Confetti yesterday. I finished in time to return the rented ladder to Home Depot. Now I need to get light bulbs for the fixtures. We are opting for compact flourescents with the output of 100 Watt bulbs but only use 26 Watts. We tried using the 50 Watt bulbs, but they aren't very bright, at least not as bright as we need.

Fiction Blog Thoughts

I have been thinking about perhaps starting a fiction blog. Somewhere that I can use to write short stories. My recent realization about the value of blogging combined with my personal interest in expressing myself in some artistic form have given me the idea to write.

I never was much of a writer in my youth. Some people spend their free time actively pursuing writing as a form of expression early in their lives. My writing has always been practical in some ways. After graduating from high school, I began keeping a journal of my activites. At first, this was a daily activity. In more recent years, my dedication has waned. This is mostly due to the lack of time to devote to writing all the details of the day. On top of that, there is the challenge of writing for at least 3 websites, in addition to starting a fourth. Now I am taking on 2 blogs. It occurred to me that I am becoming a writer of sorts. Wow, who knew I had it in me.

So, I figure, while I am at it, I could indulge myself by writing short fiction or I could make one blog into a long story written in installments. I will practice on this blog at first to see what I can do before committing to a new blog.

Light Installation

I have been installing track lighting throughout Confetti to help brighten up the place. I got a great deal on the track lights at Lowe's. They have 2 foot sections for $19.97 in my area. Today, I am installing 14 sets, I had installed 8 sets last week. We have decided to use energy efficient 26 Watt bulbs from Sam's Club that emit the light of 100 Watt bulbs. They stick out a bit from the fixture, which is alright because the lights don't focus very well. I have to give credit to Home Depot for their equipment rental service. I have rented ladders from them three times. Once a 20ft ladder to remove a banner outside the store; once a 12 foot step ladder to install the first lights; and this time I chose a 10 foot ladder since the 12 foot was too big.

So far the installation is going well. I am doing the work in batches to make things faster. I'll be here for a few more hours.

Ads on the blog

I figured out how to ad Google Adsense to my blog. This is great! I have been reading a lot about using RSS to really boost my presence on the web. I'm going to read more about that.
